Android Pay is finally rolling out in the UK
It’s been a long time coming, but Android Pay is finally rolling out to the UK.
Android Pay first launched in September in the US. Back in March, Google said the UK version of the app would support several banks, including Bank of Scotland, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank, MBNA and Nationwide Building Society, and that more would be added over time.
The feature also supports payments on the Tube, buses and trains, and is supported anywhere contactless payments work. That said, Barclays has explicitly stated it won’t support the standard, though maybe it will change its mind now that it’s actually become available.
As usual it appears to be a bit of a slow roll out, so the app may not show up in the Play Store for everyone in the UK just yet. Still, at least you know it’s finally on the way.
